Ok. I’m temporarily skipping the blog post about our wedding. Only because we have 2 wedding teas to happen within the month and I don’t want to spoil everything by posting it all on the blog now.
But. It will come!
Instead I’m going to post shots from our honeymoon in Cali. Woo hoo. Fair warning. This is a massively long post.
It started with caffeine and airports. We were running on fumes and maaaybe 3 hours sleep. I don’t know if you’ve ever planned a wedding in 1.5 months but it is buuusy and I was definitely ready to chill.
So more coffee.
We arrived in Van ready to board the cruise ship, but it wasn’t quite ready for us so we meandered around town a wee bit and tried to keep our eyes open.
After crazy customs lines and hoards of people, we finally got onboard. Funniest thing (well, funny now). When we walked in the room, by this time exhausted and ready to crash, they had 2 single beds for us. I mentioned to the room-keeper that we were on our honeymoon and probably wanted a double, so he says (in broken English) “ok I’ll push them together for you”. Not knowing that that’s what they do for all beds on cruise ships (you can’t fit a queen bed down the hallways) I was kinda not excited about that idea. However, it turned out to be quite plush and we had lots of good sleeps and naps on it.
After 3 extremely relaxing days, we arrived in LA and hit the road. Starting things off right with the most delicious Cold Pressed Coffee with vanilla beans, dates, nutmeg and cinnamon. Amazing.
We popped in at Long Beach to stretch our legs and have a quick dip.
And then we cruised along I5 . . .
All the way to San Fran.
The next morning, by popular recommendation we hit up Tartine. It did not disappoint. Excellent croissants and even more excellent coffee.
This below is a highschool in SF. Um hello. So cool.
We took a ride in a classic trolley.
Eventually we made our way to Alcatraz Island.
Along with a million other tourists, but I tried to exclude them from the photos.
It’s not that I don’t find history interesting, but there’s something about being herded around in a walking tour that kinda turns me off and I can’t get into it . So I was happy to wander around and snap. Luckily mister bought the history book and we did a little follow-up reading to compensate.
The inside of the jail . . .
After Alcatraz, we had classic chowder in sourdough at the wharf . . .
I think I’ve found my dream home . . .
San Fran is home to the most adorable, cozy apartments. We used AirBnB to find a darling little spot ourselves!
By this point, Dane was getting reaaaal tired of me taking photos of him . . .
Beretta. One of those foodie places that you walk into, check out the menu, and you’re like BAM. DONE. But, as it goes with most good restaurants, it was so low-lit that the photos are quite shabby.
This was a gnocchi-based appy that was pretty dang phenomenal.
Followed by a mouth-watering pizza.
And then. WOWEE. This was a homemade vanilla sorbet with olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. Sounds pretty random but it was positively splenDID.
And the food continued. The next am our AirBnB host had made us a breakfast of champions.
Complete with an antique tablecloth (which I clumsily spilled peach cobbler on).
Have you ever had coddled eggs? No? Oh my. You might want to change that. Like ASAP.
They are now my new favorite type of eggs. Hands down. I have a new standard.
We also did quite a number on this bowl of peach cobbler.
Our AirBnB was inhabited by 2 super passionate art collectors. Art covered almost every inch of space in the unit. Pretty amazeballs.
The coffee was fine; he’s just sick of me snapping.
We rented a bicycle built for 2 and cycled up and down til we reached the Golden Gate.
Such a gangsta.
After a good bunch of biking and walking, we lunchd on ceviche . . .
And tacos . . .
We also hit up Four Barrel Coffee for our afternoon fix . . .
And then we caught a baseball game!
We had a late supper at a place called Dosa. I last had a dosa in New York which is quite awhile ago now, so was super ready to try em out again. Dane was a little shocked at the size.
And rightfully so!
Mine was slightly more modest. But those kind ^ ^ are much cooler.
I was a little snap happy so I will do a second batch of honey moon pics. This one’s gettin’ a little lengthy and bed is calling my name!
