A collection of images from my little bro’s wedding. I got one beautiful new little sister I tell ya! They make an amazing couple ❤ And I was lucky to be their shooter for the day!
So I kinda let the ball drop for April, May, June, July, August blogging. I also happened to lose a large chunk of photos from April-May (thanks iPhone) – so I’m just gonna pick up in June.
June 5 Weekend – Lyn’s Stagette In Edmonton
June 12 Weekend – Helped Shoot A Wedding In Pincher Creek, Then To Calgary For The Weekend (drove at 3am Monday morning from YYC to YXE so I could have another night with my husband)

Here’s a few pics from the above:
Authentic Empowerment – Sugar, Salt, Fat Workshop @ ThriveDad flew us up to Saskatoon one day at 4 or 5am and I did a training program on our new Safety Management System and the app that goes along with it. Sure beats hwy 11.
Work stuff – it’s all part of my days :)
(He usually doesn’t like anything of mine of insta so when he does, he also follows up with a text)
Still get a kick out of this:
Super old railway map that I’m supposed to revive/recreate. Any pro-tips on how to do so would be much appreciated!
More drives to Alberta…
Lobster Feast! Last Day Of Work In June With This Lovely Lassie Me And Dane In A Few YearsPre Wedding Day BBQ!
And that was pretty much it before I took off to Kelowna for the month :) My posts will be less of a shmazzle once I get all caught up.
Sometimes you just need a dose of fresh country air. We spent the morning trying to catch Ash’s stubborn little pony. He was having none of it … Though the next door neighbor horseys were pretty friendly. After a morning outdoors, we took a little jaunt into the city for a good cup of coffee… (Teegy bein’ a little lady and sippin’ my cappuccino). So much love for this lady ❤ At the cafe, we ran into a fine, young chap who is starting up the Wheelhouse Cycle Club in Regina. He gave us a little tour of the new place which is going to be siiick – follow them on Insta and stay tuned for the grand opening.I look at this picture and just melt – Royal is soo darn sweet and miniature! He is just too darling!!
Squash for daaays! A feast with a whole lotta tomatoes, garlic, onions, and overall goodness. Ah these two!! ❤ Since the morning attempt was a flop (might have had somethin’ to do with the excitable pipsqueaks tagging along) us 3 ladies went for round 2. Havin’ a hoot luring in fat/shy/ornery Dusty … we like to think of ourselves as horse whisperers! Once we got him, he was lovin’ all the attention! The Phantom Drone II – excited to play with this thang! Dad has always loved the latest and greatest in techy stuff, which I used to think was nerdy but now I think it’s pretty cool. My slim jim sista (why is it that when we wanna run outside real quick, we gravitate towards the boy’s humongous boots instead of our own regular-fitting shoes? I do it all the time too. Haha). I ❤ this view so much.
A weekend well spent ❤
We finally got around to doing the locally-famous seafood boil at Bon Temps. One chilly Monday night, we cozied into the quiet joint for an evening of soulful, live music and food-baby inducing eats. The atmosphere was just lovely. I love the decor of this spot.
We started off with a bowl of traditional gumbo. Followed by a motherload of crawfish, shrimp, mussels, lobster, sausage, potatoes and corn … dumped directly on the table, giving us every excuse to indulge in sheer, dirty-fingered gluttony.
One round of greasy glasses comin’ right up … It all turns into a pretty messy little affair. But our classy company didn’t seem to mind :P
We stuffed ourselves with as much salty seafood as our stomachs could handle, and packaged up the remainder to drop off at The Lighthouse down the road.
And that was that! Definitely a fun evening that every Sasktoonawite should try at least once.
Due to a malfunctioning screen, I have been unable to post a darn thing for goodness-knows-how-long. Luckily that’s all fixed up, so now you’re gettin’ overloaded. I’ll start with work pics from the last couple months.
S and I spent a few days out in the bitter Sask cold measuring sidings.
Meanwhile the mechanics have been workin’ night and day to keep the engines moving. Prepping S for her new position! The joys of transferring crew vehicles – luxurious rides all around. When your bro sends you a snap like this, you can’t not share. His Alibaba purchase!
So good to catch up with these beauties. A stellar concert. Royal Wood and Company. And then there was Valentine’s day.
Whoever said that the way to a man’s heart is to his stomach had it backward. Dane made me Chef Ramsay’s Beef Wellington!
Juicy, tender meat, a layer of prosciutto, a layer of mushroom/garlic medley, and the best part … puff pastry.
Followed by dessert from Little Bird.
Sar and I had a good run of supporting all the local restaurants and coffee shops… Stacked was one of them. I loved the applewood smoked brie burger on lettuce. Odd Couple. Museo. (Obviously) Collective Coffee. Drift. (Sheer happiness) Bottega.Ayden. You get the idea. But, as one might assume, lunches out gets pretty pricey. So I started making jarred lunches like a mad woman. Quinoa buritto bowls, farro salads, chickpea salads, spicy tom yum soup, and so on.
Delivering coffee + muffins for his presentation + he still barely let me sneak this photo. After all that! Coffee shop hoppin. Another date at Drift, this time with my husband to proofread his crazy long paper. We also hit the 6-months-since-married mark… which is kinda wild. We celebrated with burgers at Congress. Bobblehead versions of us on our wedding day from a creative and hilarious friend!A walk by the river one night … spring is on it’s way and I couldn’t be happier ’bout that. In other news, all my ranting and raving to everyone about how amazing yoga is … well it’s a passion I’m gonna pursue a little more intensely. (PS these joke-ish lessons I was giving to dad are a bit ridiculous on several levels, but particularly my tight jumpsuit which was on the verge of ripping. I have yet to convert dad … and many others!) I’ll be taking my YTT this summer for an entire month, followed by 11 months of mentorship. Unbelievably excited! So obviously, my acceptance into the course meant Sarah and I had to celebrate. At Leyda’s. With cake and coffee! And finally … the reason this blog post is even happening is because of my techy, money-saving soulmate who went out on a limb and pulled off a sketchy repair all by himself. So many exciting things to come!
I rarely post recipes. Mostly because there are already a kazillion recipes on Pinterest, so ya don’t need mine. But I’ve come across one that is too good not to share. There are lots of variations on Pinterest but this one is a winner in my books.
We like to have a little something sweet after supper sometimes and this is quickly becoming my go-to.
May I present … brownies made with black beans and avocado. Sounds weird, but let me tell you they are delish!
1/2 avocado [large, ripe]
1 15oz can black beans
1 egg + 2 egg whites
1/2 cup honey
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp coconut oil
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup unsweetened chocolate chips or chopped chunks of chocolate
Bake 25 – 35 mins at 350ºF.
The best part is that you just throw everything except the chocolate chunks into a Vitamix [or equivalent] and blend away.
Best served with whipped cream (or coconut whip if you’re avoiding dairy) and drizzled with maple syrup.
Mmm mmm! Enjoy!
